Advisory Board

Victorian Leaders has a nationally recognised Advisory Board, consisting of leading Australian executive and non-executive directors to assist in developing the ongoing strategic direction of the Victorian Leaders network.

John Buchanan

John became the Australian Cricket Team coach in 1999 and led the team to a World Record of sixteen straight Test match wins and an unbeaten record of 24 one day international victories in two successful World Cups. His record of victories makes John the most successful coach in history with a winning record of over 75% since 1999.

Apart from sport John has worked with Boards, CEO's, senior company leadership teams, coal-face teams and with organisations of different size and industry. He has a real appreciation that each situation is unique; however the messages and methodologies of High Performing Teams and his ability to `coach` them is universal.

John has proved extremely popular in the corporate sector with his unique but successful skills as a trainer and motivator. John is also an author of three books and is an active Patron for REDKITE which is a not-for-profit charity supporting families whose children are suffering cancer.

Mark Evans

Mark is one of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs having successfully founded 3 major business’ over his career as well as overseeing the growth of a number of other companies in various industries.

Mark has over 25 years’ experience in corporate finance, investment banking and company management and has undertaken numerous Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) floats and capital and finance raisings across many industries.

In 2007 Mark was one of the founders and major financial backer of Dental Corporation where he had the position of Executive Chairman and now Managing Director. Currently DC has more than 200 dental practices in Australia and New Zealand and 60 practices in a controlled joint venture in Canada and consolidated annual revenue exceeding $500m.

In 2013 Mark managed the takeover of Dental Corporation by Bupa for an enterprise value exceeding $600m and is now focused on continuing DC’s exceptional growth under a long term contract. Mark is also a Board Member of the Western Bulldogs, 2016 winning AFL Grand Final Team.

Bryan Dorman

Bryan has considerable experience both working in and growing enterprises across a broad range of industry sectors, including residential aged care, manufacturing, property development and investment and business services.

Bryan worked in and was a Partner of Melbourne accounting firm, Rees Partners, from 1977 until 2000.

From its commencement in the early 1990s and until 2014 Bryan was the Chairman of Regis (Executive Chairman until 2008). As Chairman, he oversaw the management and growth of the company. Bryan was also the National President of the former aged care industry body, The Aged Care Association of Australia, from 2004 to 2012, during which time he was actively involved in the development of the industry and shaping its future.


Jeff Oughton

Jeff Oughton is an independent and insightful economic and financial educator and expert. In mid 2009, Jeff set up Economics & Beyond – his consultancy that specialises in quantitative and qualitative stress tests and advice to assist banks and non-financial businesses to effectively manage unanticipated opportunities and risks in the economic, financial and political landscape.

For almost seventeen years, Jeff led Nab’s Australian Economics & Industry Intelligence team that monitors and forecasts economic and financial conditions; and assesses macroeconomic and industry opportunities and risks for Nab and its customers in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US.

Before joining Nab in 1992, Jeff spent over ten years with the Reserve Bank of Australia, working in both economic analysis and financial markets. This included over two years as the Reserve Bank Deputy Chief Representative in New York Jeff received a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Newcastle University and obtained a MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management in 1986. He is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance and a member of the forecasting committee for Tourism Australia.

Vivienne Anthon

Vivienne is a highly motivated leader with extensive executive level experience developing and delivering on strategy, building high level relationships in commercial and academic environments, a proven track record of financial and people management, an ability to represent an organisation to diverse stakeholders and excellent communication skills reflecting respect, confidence, and drive.

Robert Ford

Prior to taking on the CEO role at Victorian Leaders, Robert spent 27 years working in the Banking & Finance Industry with some of Australia's largest Banks.

Robert held senior leadership positions in Corporate and Commercial Banking in Victoria and Queensland and most recently had National Executive responsibility for Industry Specialisation focussing on the Health Industry at Westpac.

Robert is also Co Founder and Director of South Australian Leaders, a reciprocal partner of Victorian Leaders.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance)  and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Russell Hannan

After a successful career as owner and operator of a multi office real estate business, Russell worked with Colliers Pty Ltd until the mid-90’s before taking up a Senior role with George Hume Pty Ltd which subsequently merged with DTZ Pty Ltd and where he remained as Director until 2011.

Russell then joined the City of Wyndham in the Economic Development Unit of the Council. His primary role was to introduce the Council to major developers, investors and business leaders in Melbourne and encourage those companies and individuals to develop and invest in the City of Wyndham. In 2012, Russell worked for Senator Helen Kroger where he was responsible for the day to day management of that office, spending time in Canberra and assisting the Senator with her electoral responsibilities. More recently, Russell has been working with MLA, Michael Gidley, State Member for Glen Waverley and currently is working for Hon Kevin Andrews MP in the federal seat of Menzies.
Russell's career has also included time as Mayor, City of Waverley and State President of the Liberal Party.

Dr Evan Shellshear

An innovation specialist and a serial entrepreneur. Whether it's companies, apps or books, he gets a buzz out of watching ideas come to fruition. He left Australia in 2005 to get a PhD in Game Theory from the Nobel prize winning Bielefeld University. After that he lived in Sweden for 6 years building and selling software products to the world's largest automotive companies before returning to Australia and becoming heavily involved in the startup scene founding, confounding or helping build up to 9 startups. He recently launched his best-selling book Innovation Tools and is currently an advisor to some of Australia's most exciting technology startups as well as a mentor to many entrepreneurs who are just starting their journey. He has considerable expertise in technical sales, marketing and product development.

She is a wife, mother of four, serial renovator and director of a successful online company Littlegrommets.com as well as running her gift and homewares retail store Tigeroy on Glenferrie Road Malvern and also online at tigeroy.com.  In TV Mimi anchors news with the ABC and Virgin Airlines as well as working with leading Australian businesses, products and programs delivering their message in an engaging and authentic way. Mimi has presented hundreds of videos and put thousands of news stories to air. She is the consumate brand ambassador. A professional performer delivering results. Mimi's international look, style and sound resonates across cultures and appeals to all ages and demographics. In her two decades of industry experience Mimi has worked with Australia's major networks the ABC and Channel 9, as well as leading Australian organisations NAB, WESTPAC, THE HERALD SUN, THE AGE, and THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, as well known brands BLACKMORES. PASPALEY, CLARATYNE, UGG AUSTRALIA, TRANSITIONS LENSES and SENSODYNE TOOTHPASTE to name a few...

Mimi's breadth of television expertise extends beyond her on air performances to writing, producing, and directing. Mimi dabbles in painting and is currently writing her first novel.  She is passionate about all she does and approaches life holistically, constantly seeking greater knowledge, better health, balance and happiness.
